Tibetan MonasteryWith the help of the Government of India, the Tibetan administration, in the early 1960s, proposed to start a number of settlements for the Tibetan refugees. Tibetan settlement in Mundgod is one of them. Government of India in consultation with the state Government of Karnataka agreed to provide 4,000 acres of mostly forestland near Taluk village in North Kanara.

The Tibetan Camp at Mundgod is considered as the core settlement for Tibetan Culture in India. There are amazing Monasteries here that give a glimpse of the splendid Tibetan culture.

Attiveri Bird Sanctuary was created due to the construction of a dam across the Tayawwanahalla in the village of Attiveri. Ever since then the reservoir has attracted a wide variety of aviators especially of the aquatic kind. Attiveri attracts about 79 species of Birds every year from about 22 countries. Note: Camera Charges are extra at Attiveri Bird Sanctuary
